Day 2 - The Underground Road

 So it has officially begun.

On day 2, I think that we can reasonably say that we have arrived. After clearing the camp of any wrong-doers and various amounts of warlocked miscreants, we rested a while. I do not think that any of us had really seen any amount of combat for some long while!

It seems as though Odo, being a man or at least an entity of the streets has taken it upon himself to gather as much money as he can. Having no need for rest, food, or anything more than a few hours of rest every once in a while means that I...don't really care for these things. What I am interested in is a library filled with the vast knowledge of my peoples. No amount of money can buy this or the time needed to engage it but then again...it certainly could help I guess!

So the baby of our group, the poor defenseless ranger seems to have also come into her own. No doubt she is just as bright eyed about the world she's now stuck in than many of us have time to comprehend. I wonder about what immortality or at least milenia long life does to the psyche. It could be that what takes 18 years or so for humans to do it could take 500-1000 to achieve Elven maturity.

Note to self: Look this up whenever we make it back to the University!

Now, this series of adventures ended with me on fire and turned into a newt...a tiny flaming lizard. That was a strange experience as the general feeling of fire within my body made of wood is already unpleasant but add the smell of flesh and the sensation is ....well, I don't know if I have the words to describe it. I think I need to see one of the fleshy folks on fire for a while to really get at what I was supposed to feel. In this circumstance, I am the baby I guess.

Poor Scully gained her wings as an angel already. I have heard about a story of a guy named Rocky Balboa who blocked punches with his face. Scully seems to do the same with her face and swords. I wonder how long this one will live.

So, today we found what seems to be a very old portion of Sharn that was part of the old Dwarven Kingdoms. Here, we found the first items of treasure so Odo was happy but what we found next...well, it scares me.

Before us sits a massive, seemingly infinite road of possibility that is heading toward the Mournland. I wonder what is down here. I wonder if we can get to the Mournland but...under it. Will the mist be there? I never came upon notes in this regard so this may allow us some sort of steps to get toward the mist or maybe under those areas. I wonder if anything would be nearby that would be of help. i wonder if any Warforged are living in the Mournland somehow. They'd be made...surely mad!

Well, in any case, we've begun walking down this road so I hope:
I will see one of the fleshy folks on fire so I can ask them about it.
I see some warforged shells I can take back to Sharn.

Oh, have to go. Something is headed this way!

Day 1 - Leaving my Office

The Mournlands are a treacherous place for sure
January 21st - Today I was told upon arriving at my office for office hours that my classes had been assigned to a new faculty member and that I was to depart at once to begin my field work. I cannot tell you how much this displeases me as I know I will soon feel dirty and grimy from all that travel but for the good of the realm I must undertake this assignment and see if some new information can be obtained that would give us a clue about the poison that resides inside the Mournlands.

My kind is slowly dying out. Sure, there are many of us left from the war but every day I hear about a new death or a new accident that takes one more of us. It won't be long until I too am gone and forgotten. It is with this that I begin my search.

To make matters terrible, I am expected to bring a variety of companions with me who will augment my own lopsidedness in order to maximize the potential victory scenarios.

First, we have a Paladin. I never understood religion but her name is Scully and she prays to the Silver Flame. While her demeanor is a little out-of-place, her ability to fight is not. Spontaneously, the opportunity to fight a battle presented itself and so I felt it necessary to test our skills. More on this in a minute.

Second, we have an Elf. I know she is a highborn but she seems to be hiding from her people. I know this will be a problem later but since the University has assigned these folks to me, I can do naught but wait. Her prowess in battle and her ability to speak her mind without thinking are amusing but no doubt, she is but a baby. What sort of name is LaFawnda anyway?

Lastly, we have a human (who I believe is actually a changling). That he is willing to come with us is something of a testament to the ulterior motives that this "Odo" has in store for us. His battle prowess is nearly legendary yet he seems to fight as though he were possessed by some hesitant spirit. Nevertheless, I am glad I do not require rest too often as I do not fancy dying in my sleep. I will need to watch this one.

Our first adventure seems to have gone off without a hitch. I do not understand why everyone goes to this food place called a tavern to find out information. Do people ONLY talk while eating? In any case, this was our first diplomatic mission and as I am a novice in the realm of inter-personal communication, it was up to the others to figure these things out. My own purpose will unravel as we find artifacts from a nation none have entered for many years.

Hilariously, Odo tried to have us avoid an obvious trap at the tavern by not taking the innkeeper's request to go under the city. No doubt this was something of an attempt to trick us into helping the innkeep obtain something from an enemy. So, if this is true then we need to go and see since it has to be somewhat valid in its content for this research.

Upon finding the place, I saw that there were but 2 brave souls trying to obtain something from nearby. They were surrounded by what seemed to be worthless hooligans of the louder bark than bite variety. I gave them the opportunity to surrender by simply asking what they knew but alas, knives were pulled and battle lines drawn. We quickly downed the foes and the cobwebs were shaken off this old warforged body.

It felt good to battle though I shant try that again. Who knew that simply walking into an enemy encampment was frowned upon! I thought LaFawnda was going to stab me!
